Peter Pan’s Flight: Attraction Spotlight
Fast Facts
Location: Fantasyland, Disneyland
Opening Date: July 17, 1955
Height requirement: None
Who it’s for: The whole family!
Ride Length: 3 minutes
Fun Fact: When it first opened, Peter Pan didn’t appear anywhere in the ride. (No worries though, here’s in there now)
Peter Pan’s Flight is another opening day attraction — it’s been in operation just as long as Disneyland has been open! This attraction puts you inside a flying pirate ship — where you follow the Darling children and their new friend Peter Pan thru their adventures in Neverland.
Perhaps one of the most iconic scenes in all of Disneyland is flying over the miniature version of London inside this ride. You’ll also get to see the whole island of Neverland from above, and fly around it meeting it’s various inhabitants. Once you’ve helped Peter defeat Captain Hook, you’ll sail back home safely to Fantasyland to experience your next attraction.
This ride features a very fun ride vehicle system — with pirate ships “flying” from the ceiling giving you an unobstructed view of all the scenes below you. This is definitely a ride you shouldn’t miss if it’s your first time to Disneyland.
The Official Word
If you’re interested in the official spiel, here’s how Disney’s site describes the attraction:
Return to Never Land
It’s bedtime in the Darling children’s nursery, but Wendy, Michael and John have some unexpected visitors! Join them on a high-flying adventure—with the help of a little pixie dust—through scenes and songs made famous in Disney’s animated film, Peter Pan.
Sail past Big Ben and Tower Bridge as London glitters below. Make your descent into the magical world of Never Land, home to volcanic peaks, sparkling waterfalls, Lost Boys and mermaids.
Swoop into Pirate’s Cove and cheer as Peter braves a swashbuckling duel with Captain Hook—while Wendy is forced to walk the plank.
Can Peter Pan return his young companions safely to London? Or will someone meet an untimely end… in the jaws of a ticking crocodile?

Lizzie’s Take
Randy’s Take
So look, this ride is hands down amazing! The experience of climbing on board a flying pirate ship and flying over and thru scenes from Peter Pan is like nothing else. I have fond memories of this ride from my childhood — feeling like I had finally discovered how to fly. (What kid doesn’t dream of flying?)
The only downside is that because this is a classic attraction with lots of appeal, there is almost always a pretty substantial line for a 3 minute long ride. Expect to spend at least 30 minutes, if not more, in line unless this is your first ride of the day at rode drop.
